Pixelated Romanticism

This is a project I completed in 2016, as part of my finals for college. I was tasked with creating a series of images that visually tied together and told a story. Immediately, I started to create a concept art story. It was a story of power and betrayal, where having the perspective to see the correct answer led to victory. The story in the end was a reflection of my childhood, where I found myself lamenting over the things I didn’t have or what I deemed to be things I hated about myself - curses some might call them. But in these faults, I found power and confidence to hone my skills and become the artist I am today.

CRONA THE OPPRESSOR

Under the guise of an angel, Crona found its way into society. But not a moment after slaying the last enemy to the Nation, she went mad with bloodlust. Now she speaks the language of carnage, slaughtering anyone and anything that crosses her path.

MAE the conqueror

Considered by many to be the nations gem, Mae is blessed by the dragons of old. With long golden horns protruding from her skull she has been able to see the beginnings of events and moments into the future. And it was with this power that she vowed to take down Crona and prevent the impending tragedies to come.

Wernia the forgotten

In a land of the lost power, Wernia found herself thrown into a world of misfortune. Before she could speak, her family was cursed and forced to live crawling through the dirt. But through this curse, she found power in perspective. She was blessed with vision to see a future of the end.
