Overview
For the past four years, I've worked as a Keynote Designer for the Databricks Data + AI Summit, collaborating with executives to create keynote presentations and supporting more than 600 breakout sessions annually. My work spans presentation design, template creation, file management, and event-wide visual consistency.
Challenge
Deliver a cohesive presentation experience across executive keynotes and hundreds of breakout sessions while managing evolving content, multiple stakeholders, and tight production timelines.
Goals
Create engaging executive presentations
Build scalable presentation templates
Maintain brand consistency across 600+ sessions
Support speakers with efficient presentation workflows
Timeline
April
This is when introductions,
timelines, deadlines, scope and event brand guidelines are discussed. Also when template creation for the event begins.
May
The bulk of the work happens here, where I work closely with
the content lead of the
executive teams to delivery on their vision for the keynote
June
The event starts! At this point I am onsite working directly with the executives to polish
and make any last minute changes to the keynote
as needed.
Strategy
To support an event of this scale, I focused on three key areas:
Scalable Design Systems
I developed and refined presentation templates, reusable layouts, and visual assets that allowed hundreds of speakers to create presentations while maintaining a consistent Databricks brand.
Executive Partnership
Working directly with executives and stakeholders, I translated complex technical concepts into clear visual stories, incorporating feedback through multiple review rounds and adapting quickly to evolving content.
Event-Wide Operations
Beyond design, I managed presentation workflows across more than 600 breakout sessions, overseeing deck reviews, version control, file organization, and production-ready deliverables to ensure presentations were accurate, consistent, and ready for the live stage.
